Said aunt went slightly bonkers and treated my dad abysmally. Then overcome with grief when he died (still couldn't make it to his funeral though, having missed both elder brothers' funerals which my dad had to sort). I just couldn't forgive her for the pain she caused him on all sorts of occasions. When she died my sis needed money to fly out to the US to go to her funeral and I wouldn't lend it to her. Caused minor rift in family, but I just couldn't do it. Sometimes forgiving just ain't that simple.<br />(Time has healed it a little, but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to forgive her properly.)Jane Henryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17514534117777707886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215926314312539949.post-73355809010977122912009-05-26T04:48:25.279-07:002009-05-26T04:48:25.279-07:00I've written her a long missive, complete with pho...I've written her a long missive, complete with photographs, of my happier memories of my father, although I couldn't resist a passing reference to the first time my father dumped my mum in favour of a nurse named Margaret. I referred to it as "Dad running away to Boston", but she might still take umbrage. (Good thing I didn't mention the embezzlement; she wouldn't believe that either.) She's sending me printed out sermons about forgiveness and "seeing the best in people". I'm trying not to gag, because I know she means well.Persephonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15560178981320189795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215926314312539949.post-52644994397581980122009-05-26T03:02:28.191-07:002009-05-26T03:02:28.191-07:00Hey, I'm Drunk Plaid Cake too.
