Exciting bit of my mil's history is that at the end of the war, Louis Armstrong came to the estate her father ran to entertain the US troops who'd taken over the estate. He stayed in touch with her dad for a bit and she still has a Christmas card from him...Being my mil she didn't quite realise what a big deal this was(-:
