So,the back half of my molar dropped out a couple of hours ago. I phoned the dentist who is closed until January 4th. I phoned the Dental Emergency Centre and the receptionist told me no immediate action need be taken unless I'm in pain.
So I'm not in pain. Yet. But half my tooth is missing. And I keep thinking the right side of my face is getting numb. And this tooth was, from the look of it, seventy percent filling, so the mercury is probably leeching into my already pitiful brain.
Brilliant! I now have an excuse for every imbecility I commit in 2010!
Wishing you all a butt-covered New Year,

oh dear. any change in our mouth seems amplified a thousand times and you must be going crazy.
Look on the bright side though - when it is fixed, it will be with porcelain and no evil stuff.
Your dentist will be looking at new tyres for his Mercedes now he knows what he will bill you though.
Overlooking all this - Best wishes for your 2010 improving enormously.
No fair! You have an excuse before the year even started!
ah well. Good luck with the tooth.
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Ann O D and Ptooie!
I am pleased to report we have a good dental plan through the Resident Fan Boy's work. No pain so far; I seem to be able to eat and brush my teeth with little problem. I'm hoping that the fact this happened on New Year's Eve means this will not contaminate 2010 (which, I'm told, we're required to call "twenty-ten")...
Ouch. Bad luck. If it's any consolation, the dentist in my house still hasn't replaced my veneer which snapped, oooh, months ago. He's also having difficulty working out how he's going to mend his own tooth....
Happy New Year to you. Hope you had good news re your other medical problem?
Only if "no news" is good news. Which it may well be. The doctor seems singularly unworried. I get to keep tabs on the thing and see him again at the end of March. Yay.
"end of March" - that will give you time to save up, have a yard sale, take your kids out of their private school - the thing that hurts most at the DDS is the co$t.

"mend his own tooth" - never thought of that - they must all hate paying other dentists! bwah ha
I always think if they don't seem in a rush to do anything that's a good sign. Fingers crossed.xx
A butt-covered new year? But I so love the naked ones
